Over the past few years, Dolby Atmos has become an increasingly common format in the industry. We are starting to see more and more movies, TV shows, and albums released in Atmos. What was once originally reserved for Hollywood blockbusters, has now trickled down to smaller scale productions, animation, and even childrens content. Thanks to advancements in technology, Atmos has grown increasingly accessible. Gone are the days when Atmos was a gimmick that could only be experienced in major theaters. With new affordable products such as soundbars, Atmos has been introduced into households across the world.
2023 marked substantial growth for Boom Box Post, introducing new shows, seasons, and features. Let’s reflect back on the year and see what we have accomplished, and what we look forward to!

The Cymbals & Gongs SFX Library is the latest member of our Percussion Collection and contains a wide variety of professional cymbal and gong sound effect recordings. Instruments include China, crash, ride, splash, and toy cymbals and large and small gongs played with various sticks and mallets at numerous tempos and volumes.

To celebrate Halloween in a gruesome style, we decided to do part two of: Death by Sound Effect. We came up with a cause of death and put our editors to the task to create a gross, gruesome sound build. Let’s see what they came up with!
This month, the Comic-Con Museum in San Diego held a one-day symposium titled Storytelling Across Media which provided professional panels geared toward aspiring writers, artists, musicians, and media professionals interested in the art of storytelling. I had the pleasure of being invited to be a panelist on the topic of “Storytelling in Music and Sound.” They invited an array of industry professionals and asked us each to invite a collaborator of our choosing in order to delve into our collaborative processes of using music and sound to further our storytelling. I was ecstatic to have been invited, and immediately thought of bringing Greg Nicolett, the underscore composer on Pupstruction, to join me.
Foley is a crucial element in the world of filmmaking and audio production. It refers to the art of creating and recording sound effects to synchronize with the visual elements of a film or other visual media. The history of Foley can be traced back to the early days of cinema, and it has since evolved into a specialized and essential field within the film and television industry.
We recently celebrated Boom Box Post’s 9th birthday! Here's a look back at all that we accomplished in the past 9 years. We could not be more grateful for the opportunity to flourish in this community, and we hope BBP’s 10th year is filled with even more opportunities to shine.
Before I began learning how to mix professionally, Pro Tools automation was a complete mystery to me. Working in post production often necessitates at least some understanding of automation, and if you’re mixing, you need to be an expert.
Boom Box Post has been busy this year successfully completing various sound projects including shows, shorts, features, and commercials. It’s that time of year again! The Children’s and Family Emmy Awards have accepted submissions, voting has commenced, and nominations are coming out soon.
