A COLLABORATIVE POST
WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST

We recently celebrated Boom Box Post’s 10th birthday! We could not be more grateful for the opportunity to flourish in this community, and we hope Boom Box Post’s next decade is filled with even more opportunities to shine.

For this special occasion, we asked our staff to name sound effects that embody the last 10 years at Boom Box Post.

Riser

I think a riser really embodies the last 10 years at BBP. Our team is constantly evolving and pushing itself to new heights. Plus, I’m always in suspense regarding where the next year will lead us. We’ve accomplished more than I could have imagined, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
— Kate Finan, Co-Owner

TIBETAN SINGING BOWL

I like to think of Boom Box Post as a respite for our clients. Animation production can be super stressful, but when you come through our doors, with all the natural light and calming blues, it’s like a great big deep breath. The Tibetan singing bowl makes me think of a spa or ashram, super chill. Calm, quiet, confident... that’s our vibe.
— Jeff Shiffman, Co-Owner

Waves

Our whole building is blue and we have a very blue wavy wallpaper when you first walk into the building. It reminds me of slow calm waves.
— Studio Engineer, Tim Vindigni

Shuffleboard

We have a shuffleboard competition every year and the clanging of the pucks is unmistakable.
— Sound Effects Editor, James Yauillo

Group Laughter

There’s a lot of group laughter that happens here. Whether it’s from the lunch table, the front desk, or us editors up in Edit Room 1, somebody is always laughing somewhere in the building
— Sound Effects Editor, Vivian Williams

KEYBOARD PRESSES

I recently have been editing a lot of foley and footsteps so I have been spending a lot of time with the Midi keyboard. When hitting the keys, it makes a specific hard plastic sound if a midi instrument is not connected.
— Sound Effects Editor, Jayson Niner

Crickets

I am one of the first editors here in the morning and there is a family of crickets that comes out every morning. It’s a challenge to see them, but I hear them chirping every morning.
— Sound Effects Editor, Peter Kay

LFE explosions

My office is right next to Brad Meyer’s office. While working next to him has been a great experience, he does work on bombastic shows. I am often listening to (and feeling) the LFE explosions coming from his room. It wouldn’t be Boom Box Post if Brad wasn’t cutting explosions every other day!
— Supervising Sound Editor, Tess Fournier

Toaster oven ding for cookie Friday

I make fresh, hot cookies every Friday. The sound of the toaster oven dinging will stick with me.
— Office Manager, Kyle Stockbridge
