Here at Boom Box Post our slogan is to focus on the creative. While that’s at the top of our list, a close second is focusing on the positive. This is easily reflected in our extensive backlog of blog posts. Favorite Free Apps, Most Loved Plugins, Favorite Cartoon SFX, the list goes on and on. But not everything can be our favorite. So this week I asked the Boom Box Post team to share their least favorite sounds.

BBP’s Least Favorite Sounds
Kate:
“A fart followed by a toilet plop.”
Jeff:
“Styrofoam scraping on styrofoam. It’s like nails on a chalkboard dialed up to 11.”
Brad:
“That's tough, I hate so many it's hard to choose...Honestly? A Shepard's tone. Who gives a sh*t, ya know?”
Tess:
“People vomiting. I don’t want to listen to that!”
Jacob:
“Leaf Blowers - They are constantly haunting my ears in my neighborhood. 6:30am on a Monday? LEAFBLOWER. Mixing quiet backgrounds and roomtones? LEAFBLOWER. Open a window for some fresh air? LEAFBLOWER. HOW MANY YARDS NEED THE HELP OF A LEAFBLOWER IN A WEEK COME ON!”
Ian:
“A swishy jacket or pants in a quiet room.”
Katie:
“Burping! It especially makes me want to gag when someone makes themself burp for a recording because it sounds like throwing up lol”
Jessey:
“Nails on a chalkboard. Hands down. Or sounds that have frequencies in that same range. The absolute worst. I get whole body chills.”
Greg:
“Screaming/extended crying is at the top of that, but the sound of babies making loud vocalizations of any kind has always made me cringe lol. It’s probably a good thing I’m not having kids.”
Carol:
“I feel like it changes all the time, but a few that are annoying to me at the moment; loud as fudge cars, babies (but adults pretending to be babies/ babies crying), and forks scratching on plates when eating.”
Natalia:
“I really dislike the sound of gagging or someone vomiting. It’s great for horror elements or making things gross or extra gore-y, but it makes me feel weird. I also can’t deal with the scrape of silverware on a plate.”
Peter:
“I would have to say fart sounds? I mean they are funny and what not but it isn’t very pleasant to listen to.”
Sam:
“The scraping sound silverware makes!”
Tim:
“I absolutely hate the sound of scratching fabric, like a pillowcase or jeans. My fight or flight kicks in! Also, I’ve never heard it in real life, but the idea of hearing someone’s arm/leg break...I could faint.”
Nate:
“Dogs licking themselves. Ugh, gross!”
